Summary of the performance of "The Queen Mother's Peach Banquet"
On the Queen Mother's birthday, a grand banquet was held to entertain the gods of Heaven. Laozi (the Supreme Lord Lao) requested the Queen Mother to send people to pick immortal peaches for all the immortals to enjoy. The Queen Mother sent fairies to pick peaches for the guests.
Sun Wukong, who proclaimed himself "Great Sage Equal to Heaven," was ordered to manage the Queen Mother's Peach Orchard. Upon learning that he was not invited to the banquet, he felt humiliated and, in a fit of anger, decided to obstruct the feast. He hid all the ripe peaches. The fairies, unable to find the peaches in the orchard, inquired with the gardener and learned that Wukong had stolen them all. They immediately reported this to the Queen Mother.
The Queen Mother and the immortals were furious and went to Flower Fruit Mountain to capture Wukong. A great battle ensued between the immortals and Wukong at Flower Fruit Mountain. Guanyin Bodhisattva arrived and mediated, clearing up the misunderstandings. Wukong returned the peaches. The Queen Mother of the West invites Sun Wukong to join her at the Jade Pool for a Peach Banquet, and all the immortals happily go along.
